Andrew Muwowo shares how it all began…
"During my time as one of the elders and later as pastor of Kitwe Chapel in Zambia, the Lord helped us to plant five churches within Kitwe and one about 150 kilometres away. The elders, who were mostly from the mother church, initially oversaw the work before two of the churches found pastors. However the challenges we faced in finding a pastor for the out-of-town church plant brought about a particular desire within me. My passion was to one day set up a theological training institute that would train men in preaching for church planting work in Zambia and beyond. |
"This desire was rekindled many years later at our home church in the UK. After I preached a sermon on church planting, a gentleman came up to me and asked about the need for church planting in Zambia. Providentially, we had both read the book Revolution in Missions by K. P. Yohannan. This book argues for the training of nationals within their own country and cultural context. It was then some time after this that I wrote down the vision for Proclamation Institute of Zambia. The strap line that I chose was: Training Preachers, Growing Churches."

This is the biblical mandate for us to raise up a new generation of faithful Bible teachers: "And the things you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also." (2 Timothy 2:2)
